What happens with checked luggage in this instance on two separate tickets?

I'm thinking about getting in on these deals to PEK/PVG and want to continue onto HKG, but will have checked luggage for sure in at least one direction.

Should this be fine, with a 2+ hour connection on 2 different PNRs?
