Only half joking as I have to SEA-DFW-BOS trips upcoming in the next 6 weeks. I actually prefer the connections through DFW for (a) more EQM and (b) more uninterrupted time on board to sleep or work.
Unfortunately, I usually make EXP on points by mid-year, so going direct is almost always my best option. After that, I tend to sprinkle in some VX flights, when it isn't above our contracted AA rates. One good thing about the SFO reduction is that when I am going to Palo Alto or other areas on the penninsula, I no longer have to decide whether to fly into SFO or SJC. Most of the time, I'll take the 5-10 minute walk to the rental car agency at SJC over the up and down escalator to the monorail trip.
Terminal D at DFW is great as there are lots of decent food choices. Terminal D to A or otherwise during a tight connection is a disappointing experience.
As I travel more and more on other airlines (which I'm forced to do due to reductions), I learn that sometimes the grass is greener (like Terminal B at SJC, which is right across the street from the rental car agency).
