Based on my understanding of this thread, I agree with you completely. I may SDC to an earlier flight if I get to the airport early--it doesn't mean that my upgrade request on the new flight should "un-upgrade" someone else. In fact, if I request an upgrade and it just never clears, I may be a bit bewildered since I'm accustomed to upgrades, but a 100% upgrade success rate is unrealistic in the long term, and I'd never be the wiser if my seat in F was inadvertently given to someone else. Bad form to "un-upgrade" anyone, IMO.
