Another BA Y review and mini TR ARN-LHR-JFK-ARN

Inspired by henkybaby I also have a mini TR from my recent Y trip to JFK. Maybe some details that can be useful for other Y heroes

I had to make a quick trip to New York and again WT was too attractive to resist on this short long-haul trip.

Trip started at ARN and the miserable Menzies lounge. I noticed that my flight departed from gate F67 and this is also the location of the F67 Bar So I left the lounge after a ham toast and had a proper pint of beer at the bar.

I was in seat 22D, at least it was an aisle seat so I wasn't too worried. When boarding they scanned my boarding pass, it didn't beep but the agent looked confused and consulted with a colleague. They then handed me a new boarding pass. Well hello seat 2D!! ^

I smiled all the way through the jetway. It turned out that Club was half empty and as 2F was free I moved there. During the boarding process they repeatedly announced: "This flight is completely full so use the space in the seat in front of you". I felt very good with the space around me

No drink run before the meal instead they directly served a hot meal, Chicken Tikka, and it was very good with a couple bottles of fizz:

A quick shower at LHR and then boarding the B777 G-VIIY to JFK. I was in seat 26H, the first row of WT directly behind the WT+ cabin. This is a picture of the legroom as well as the attractive bum of the CC:

Chicken with mash served and I agree with henkybaby, it's a good meal:

About 1h before landing some sandwiches and tea/coffee. Also customs forms handed out which is a nice touch as it makes the arrival process less stressful.

After a day in New York I headed back to JFK. I had about 4h before the flight so I decided to investigate the airport. A small train "Air Train" goes through a loop and connects all terminals. I went to Terminal 4. This is a good terminal if you have some time to spare. Most of the shops and restaurants are before security so anyone can access them. I had a burger and then went to a bar for a pint.

The train back to T7 takes just a few minutes.

I was a bit worried about my seat 53G and decided to ask the ticket counter if they sold upgrades. They did and for $250 I could be in WT+. The agent checked my flight and told me that there are 100+ unsold seats in WT so I shouldn't bother to upgrade ^

I had 53 D/E/F/G for myself so like henkybaby I had the whole row and could prepare a flat bed

The meal was beef bits with something I forgot. Not very good but I was still full from the previous burger. I was intrigued by the small piece of bread on the tray:

Why? Because I was bored and looked at the ingredients list:

A bad photo so let me list the ingredients:
  • Wheat flour (bleached wheat flour, malted barely flour, potassium bromate)
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Liquid margarine (liquid soybean oil, water, salt, hydrogenated soybean oil, vegetable mono&diglycerides, soy lecithin, potassium sorbate, citric acid, artificial flavor, beta carotene, vitamin A palmitate)
  • Yeast
  • Dough conditioner (wheat, flour, enzymatic modified wheat gluten, datem, guar gum dextrose, canola oil, ascorbic acid)

I didn't know that a simple white bread had all this in it

At LHR I met Bjorns and Volcanoman for some glasses of fizz in GF ^

The last leg was in the beautiful 767 and when Bjorns turned left to the club section I walked back to my seat in 40D Not too bad as I could switch to a free window pair. After some G&T and CSI episodes on my laptop, we safely landed at a chilly ARN.

I feel that I have done my WT experiences for a while. Next trip in March will be in CW
