I called the AA PLT desk back again. I gave them the ticket number and they found my reservation. Since it is an Iberia ticket, AA stated that they are not able to assist me further with my ticket (i.e. seating, etc.) and that Iberia directly has to assist me further.
That's bizarre. I've called BA directly several times and had seats assigned or improved when traveling on BA metal ticketed by AA as an AA codeshare.
