I don't understand fighting for upgrades. I stay at a hotel with numerous PLATS and there are only about 12 suites. 2 stays and no upgrades but they recognize my status, ask about my welcome gift, and tell me about the lounge. I am happy. You don't ALWAYS deserve an upgrade - the terms are clear that it's based on availability. Why not just be nice to the hotel crew and you will get what you deserve? I can see if you stay at the hotel for month's at a time and you don't feel rewarded but really people. It's a freakin room.
