Well, that's remarkably unhelpful. I'll bet there's no real reason they couldn't, for the inverse of the reason that Iberia doesn't have the online seat selection option for their codeshares on AA: American has ultimate control over the AA metal. Any "selection" one does through IB is ultimately just a request from IB to AA anyway. Why not allow the request directly, for a good AA customer?
