QANTAS doesn't have a 'U'.

On your other questions. QF doesn't status match.

Depending on what class of fare you are booked will make a difference as what is better. Not every class of fare with QF earns miles on AA and vice versa. If you are not flying at the front of the bus then getting status with either quickly is not easy.
