Can a connection >24h NOT be a stop-over?

I know that if a connection is less than 24h, then it is not considered a stop-over. So you can have two proper stop-overs on an AP award ticket, plus some more connections less than 24h.

But what if the next available scheduled flight is more than 24h? Am I allowed then to add this stop on top of the two stop-overs, because this is just a long connection and not a stop-over?

I can find a city which I want to stop at, and which is served by A* only once a week, so can I arrive, spend a week there, and depart on the next available A* flight, so that this could be considered a connection?
