No name changes are allowed.

Not sure what the value of the ticket is, but what you should do is the following:

Book a one-way in-Texas flight (i.e. IAH-AUS or vice-versa), which is almost always available for $48 all-in on a 14-day advance under his name. He can be a "no-show" for this flight. Upon booking this over the phone, the agent will charge you the $48+150 change fee, and the balance of the ticket will be given to you in a travel certificate. Ask the agent for the pin # so you do not have to wait for it to come in the mail. You can apply a TC to the purchase of a ticket for you/your wife/anyone.
