BA Complaints - Automatic Ex Gratia Mileage?

I recently was asked to complete an online questionnaire about a flight sector I took and in doing so it struck me how different to outbound and inbound services were.

I emailed BA to say that had they not have asked me for my opinion about the (excellent) outbound journey I would not have 'complained' about the inbound one. I am not a pre-programmed whinger but we were being physically herded down the airbridge to board ground staff shouting 'hurry, hurry'), onto an AC that was delayed with technical problems (some of which continued throughout the flight) and a crew who appeared so stressed that simple tasks seemed laden with disaster.

Never did I hear back from BA - and my email was simply a factual account of the two flights. However, now I see my account has had a mileage 'enhancement' without any explanation.

I wasn't after any miles, since I didn't really have any inconvenience - fair's fair. I was just replying to their survey.

Is this a normal BA corporate response?
