If you're renting from a small HLE and see the same folks all the time anyway, there probably aren't significant added rental perks. When I rent from HLEs here as Gold, the best benefit is usually that they've already got the paperwork done (only failed on that once in many tries) and only rarely that I get any different better cars than I've reserved or such. But, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to earn #1 points on those, unless it's a negotiated rate that specifically says it can't earn points. So what you might be missing out on mainly is points, and with 10 rentals a year, you'd get 5* status which nets you a few extra points and a really marginal chance of upgrade. As a regular customer at one location just being friendly with the same agents over and over is probably just as likely to get you an upgrade. And perhaps in both cases an upgrade is unlikely on monthlies.

I'd check into your rate's specifics and find out if it can earn points or not. That is actually probably a more interesting benefit than the bypass-the-counter service and such given that you're only picking up a car once a month. Although if you do rent elsewhere, having the Gold service can be nice. I've grown accustomed to it, and I only rent in a true Gold Canopy location generally a few times a year. But even walking into the HLE and having the paperwork all done is great. If no one is in front of me, I show my license and say no to the prepaid fuel, and I'm out with the keys in about 1 minute.
