My personal experience is that I feel MR LNF is a joke. I had several stays in different hotels (All in Asia) and made a total of around 7 claims and they were all denied. The sites I used were otel, agoda.com, hotelclub, onetravel etc.
I feel that they are coming up with creative excuses to deter customers from using the LNF. Their excuses are so lame.
The reasons given by Marriott were :
1) According to the Terms and Conditions of Marriott's Look No Further(SM) Best Rate Guarantee, "rate disparities solely attributable to fluctuations and/or differences in currency exchange rates are excluded from the guarantee."
2) The Terms and Conditions of Marriott's Look No Further(SM) Best Rate Guarantee state that the guarantee does not apply to pre-paid rates that involve a voucher (including electronic vouchers) for a hotel stay outside of the United States and Canada.
The price differences ranged from 15% to around 50% and were all denied. They mainly used the issuance of voucher as an excuse even though the terms and conditions were similar (same bedding, breakfast, cancellation policy up to the day of arrival etc.
As for the rate disparities resulting from currency exchange, the difference was 15% based on the total amount between MR and the comparison site. I asked myself how convincing can the excuse be when the currency differences is 15%? It's just like telling me buying a car for $100,000 Vs $115,000 are the same? I cannot believe it? Why don't they lower and match the comparison site by matching the 15% difference or are they using this chance to profiteer?
However, I do not have any problem with previous claims with Hyatt using the same sites, leaving me feeling weird, confused and frustrated. The lower rates were honoured over the phone while they checked online. Professional, user-friendly and helpful. ^
