You know the rule with Aeroplan, If you don't like one answer, politely hangup and ring back. FWIW, it took me about eight calls (also from Australia) until I got an agent who could/would do what I wanted and while I didn't end up doing a mini-RTW, I had at least two agents who were willing to route SWP-NA via Europe and told me the MPM for SYD-YYZ going via Europe is 20000 miles.
