Help!

I've been flying for as long as I can remember, but I've never experienced a connection through DTW when I was old enough to remember it, and definitely wasn't an international connection. I'm flying from PHX-DTW-AMS-BLQ. The last leg is not relevant (as I have plenty of time to connect in AMS) but I'm worried about my connection time in DTW. Delta's website is trying to sell me this ticket with a 41 min. connection time. If you land from a domestic flight in DTW do you have to go through security to get to our international flight or can you proceed directly to the gate? I assume if my flight from PHX is on time, I can make it, but if there is security this seems risky? Why are they offering me this fare with a 41 min. connection? Does it seem possible to you?
