Out of curiosity, why is an iPad any different from my almost 3" hard cover book that weighs more than 3 iPads? I don't have to store my book!?!

I do like the typical response of attack the OP immediately. This was obviously target specific and not rules based per the emphasis above (notice he is in 1A and someone is in 1B, making it very difficult to have it sitting in the seat next to them). I personally don't have trouble following the rules as long as they are applied to everyone the same way.
