How are you getting to/from S. America? Cruise? Overland? For the Oneworld/LAN Airpass, you need an intercontinental flight in/out of S. America which could be as simple as a flight from Mexico. It does not have to be LAN flight - just a Oneworld airline (which would include AA, BA, IB and QF who operate to the continent). Assuming you have an eligible flight, the airpass is straightforward to price up. Best place to begin the airpass is Brazil so you can avoid the sales taxes that are levied by most other S. American countries.

Flights within S. America are not that cheap (especially international), so if possible it would probably be worthwhile getting an airpass. SJU-CCS with AA is maybe the cheapest intercontinental ticket you could purchase. You could also book a refundable ticket and cancel it later.......
Thank you for the information. I haven't booked a flight to SA yet, but I have book a flight from Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon with TAP.
Can I still get the pass if I just fly into SA with One World?
