I'm sorry, if we hit turbulence on take off/landing I don't want somebody's 12 lb laptop flying around the cabin because they stashed it in the seat back pocket, secured only by a 10+ year old piece of elastic.

An Ipad is different -- it weights less than some books I've brought on board. But I do stow my 2.5 lb MacBook Air in the overhead...
