I find this to be inversely proportional to the level of the property. I am sitting in an Hampton that has at least three generous sized cans with fitting liners. The last full Hilton I stayed in had these stupid little skinny cans that held virtually nothing.

As for the maids, I do not worry about them. They do their job the best they can and I do mine. I will take a plastic grocery store bags with me on every trip for my dirty clothes. I do industrial work and my clothes get really dirty and need to be isolated from the rest of the luggage. If I get a teeny can, I use one for trash and put it next to the too tiny one. Problem solved for me and the maid. If you forget or do not have one, there might be one in the closet with the mysterious label "laundry."
