This happened to my brother a couple of years ago. They gave him nothing and he had Elite status at the time.

Customer service is not something AC seems to bother with. Giving customers a standard 5% off coupon for a future flight tells me they simply don't care.

I'd be interested in knowing the cost/benefit of their customer service policy. Surely they've lost some high rev pax over relatively small things.
