Not using my profile with a car rental company when renting in conjunction with other airline bonus offers has been my method also. It just means that I don't get the instant check-in at the car lot with Avis, etc. and have to wait at the counter with Kettles. Usually, I just link directly to the rental site & use my other office & e-mail addresses (** double check coupon codes!!! ** ).
By not letting any profile data info get into the mix, I have never had a rental not post properly. I am currently in the middle of a SWA-Hertz bonus rental, so I'll see how it goes.
I'm not much of a SWA flyer, but stumbled onto the fact that I need to do some activity to maximize the value of my 9 credits before RR-2.0 kicks in. I only fly SWA when required to, and have used my ocassional award to fly my daughter on SWA; she like the LUV, and the one-ways were always convenient.
