Most folks want to get from point A to point B as quickly and directly as possible, and that's doubly true with respect to the ex-IAD TATL market. The government and business types that frequent these flights simply won't go for a connection - the government is directly or indirectly picking up the tab, and these people don't have the time to waste making connections when the marketplace is providing good nonstop access options.
I am well aware of these "restrictions." I was simply stating my personal preference. Besides, those that travel on someone else's dime often are in the front & probably don't care whether it's a wide- or narrowbody as long as they get their lie-flat seats.
