C/P book at Cat 3, but hotel will change to Cat 4...What should I do?
I already booked and received confirmation for a C/P international stay at a Cat 3 in March (2800 points + 45USD). However, I received an email from the hotel saying that my charges will be ~60USD equivalent (after the conversion) without tax/service charges (explicitly written in the email). So I called the hotel to ask about the discrepancy and they told me that in March, they will up their hotel category to Cat 4 (4000 points + 60 USD).
So my question is this, I have already booked and receive confirmation for a Cat 3 (not Cat 4) stay from SPG. They (SPG) already took 2800 points from me. But when I check in, I will have to pay ~60USD + Tax and will they take an additional 1200 points?. What should I do? Should I ask SPG to honor the original rate that I booked the hotel at? I don't understand why the Cat changes aren't reflected in SPG.
