It wasn't too many years ago that AE tried DFW-Puebla.....and it was gone pretty quickly! (and note that Puebla is a huge manufacturing city--including the largest VW factory in the hemisphere)
AA is becoming very serious about Mexico. Mazatlan and Morelia are next.
