The short answer is "yes". Prices have been higher, in general, but it's still possible.
I just did a random search on ITA for weeklong trips in March and saw plenty of availability for $672 non-stop to LHR. Could probably do even better with more careful searching.
The taxes and fees are very high, though. On the $672 price:
$230 actual fare
$252 fuel surcharge
$190 taxes and fees
If you look around here, you'll find threads about (arguably) legitimate ways to make fuel surcharges go away. That, combined with careful searching, should net you some relatively cheap flights.
Thanks! That *is* March, tho' - I'm looking at May, but perhaps I can find some deals around that time as well. I appreciate your advice!
What amazes me is how the major airlines are starting to act like RyanAir vis a vis their fees and surcharges. They get you with the fare, but then surprise surprise, here are fees/charges we didn't used to add before. I think folks would like the airlines more if they didn't do that. Ah well.
