I could be wrong, but I think I read the hard product (seats) on US' A330s are fine, so perhaps for the convenience of a nonstop, go US eastbound, and take something grander (LX, LH, or SQ if you're willing to fly out of FRA at 8:xx am) on the way home when you're more likely to be awake to enjoy it...
