Thanks for the clarifications. I have actually never made international/domestic connections other than GIG-GRU and GRU-GIG. In addition I have no idea how much English they may speak, although I do hear English often enough.

I checked FlightStats for the DOH-GRU route which showed only 28% ontime also. I guess both of these have horrible performance and my friends were very lucky.
