Qatar does have much less congestion so that is a good option if EK fails to arrive as needed. Otherwise you really haven't much problem connecting to BSB from GRU anyway, do you? There are so many flights, and EK facilitates a connection, do they not?
I personally do not know since I have never missed a connection with EK. I have left quite late, but still arrived on time.

No the options to BSB are pretty limited There is only TAM for through connect The connection with TAM has a 2 hour wiindow You have to clear immigration, clear customs, get your luiggage and checkin for the domestic segment. If you are not a Vermelho/*G then you know how chaotic picking up the domestic BP is in Brazil . A one hour delay means you miss your flight. Next and last one is at 2205. So a 2 hour 15 min plus delay means you miss that as well! As Vermelho Im fine. but even so there can be a lot of stress and hassle. If you are not even a basic Portuguese speaker then its hit and miss whether anyone will understand you at TAM check in/Connexao. And Ek, to date has not seen the need to actively liaise with TAM to get the connecting pax (who are 50 per cent of J load typically connect) through.
