It must be a glitch since cancellation is not allowed either and that is always allowed for miles bookings.
I have had the same issue. Booked recently, and both the change/cancellation options were grayed out from the start. Called BAEC
(i wanted an earlier connecting domestic), and they tried to apply an offline booking fee however were happy to waive this when i told them i was unable to make the change online.
