Couldn't agree more with annerj and hhoope01, I would take a walk in a heartbeat. That is one of the first benefits I noticed in the platinum column several years ago (the other was 48 hour availability). I would have made it painful for the property though, and Holiday Inn Express would have been fine for some extra $$$ or comps.
as noted by Hhoope it's just too darn expensive to walk an elite....and to walk a Platinum member is even more so (those certs alone kill you, plus the check and then the cost of the other hotel room...ugh - I'd always cringe when I found out a platinum was walked but thankfully it really didn't happen all that often)
