Q&A Airside Frankfurt FRA overnight
Q: Is FRA airside open at night?
A: No.
Q: Am I allowed to stay there overnight?
A: The internet says no but I am doing it right now.
Q: How do you get airside if you are flying the next day?
A: By accident or by luck. It is unlikely that many people will be able to enjoy this perk.
Q: Will security kick me out?
A: They didn't kick me out. At around 3am I was walking around and bumped into security. They said if I get hungry Burger King is open 24 hours a day and is within security. They should really kick people out. Not all the stores lock all their stuff up. I am going to let this store know tomorrow morning.
Q: Are the TVs and lights left on all night?
A: Yes. Every single last one. Some of the escalators are running at full speed with no one approaching them. You can kick back and watch whatever is showing since none of TV are turned off from the day before.
Q: What goes on at night?
A: Cleaning crew drink tea and clean and drink more tea. There is a bakery preparing fresh bread near the business lounge. At 3am all the internet kiosks and phones rebooted. Some run Windows XP and other linux. I found it quiet odd they didn't standardize on one OS.
Q: If you are flying business why didn't you get a hotel room for the night?
A: I am not tired and got work to do on my laptop. Plus it makes it easier to adjust time zones and forget about why the hell I am flying Lufthansa instead of ANA.
Q: How much is internet access?
A: 5 euro for 1 hour.
20 euro for 600 minutes (30 days)
35 euro for unlimited access for 30 days.
10 euros for t-mobile customers for 30 days.
Alternatively, for 20 euros you can get 24 hours of in flight internet access that can in addition be used in the airport. My flight doesn't have in flight internet access but for an overnighter this is probably a better deal.
Q: Can I ask you additional questions?
A: Sure, but make it snappy as the first flight into this part of the terminal arrives soon.
I didn't find any massage chairs. If anyone knows where any are please let me know soon. Actually, if anyone knows anything interesting in FRA airport I may check it out before the first flight.
Edit: Well, I just saw the first non-cargo flight of the day land.
