In a perfect world, this (having two bookings into the same room) would never happen. The world's not perfect.
The world's not perfect, but there is no excuse to allow room card duplication. What if I walked in to my room to find my laptop missing? Or I was asleep and someone woke me up? Totally unacceptable under ANY circumstance. Not only would I pitch a fit to the front desk, I'd have someone's job for a mistake like that.
