For compensation, if it's a hampton you could try for the satisfaction guarantee and the room would be comped or you will most likely get either a set amount of $ or a certain % off yoru bill depending on the complaint.
If you have already checked out of the hotel and never brought the problems to the hotels attention, then I don't think it is fair to expect compesnation, if they werne't given a chance to fix the problem.
