I wanted to throw these questions out to the forum before calling AMEX CS:
Some info first...I've had a regular Gold card since '99 and have continued to pay the $85 annual fee & $40 MR annual fee (both due in February). However, I was approved for the Platinum Card (w/50K MR bonus) and have started using the new card. Lastly , I was just given a "credit" for my 2010 MR fee of $3.84.
1) Will AMEX still charge me annual fees for both cards?
2) Do Platinum Card members still have to pay the annual MR fee?
3) Any clue as to the MR credit?
4) Do you think I have any "leverage" on being able to get the annual fee waived for the Gold card, based on long I've been a member?
Bottom line, I don't want to have to pay both annual fees (plus MR fee) if possible...I love AMEX but not that much
I'm willing to cancel the Gold card if need be, although I'd hate to due to the long history.
Again, I wanted to throw this out to the forum first since a couple of you might have had some experience with this scenario.
