Certainly the Indian folk near me use pre-mixed spices, I stand behind them in the Indian grocery store as they are buying them! I guess it is no different to the fact that I will sometimes buy gravy and stuffing mix to go with a Sunday roast, when really they are both very easy to make from scratch, I am / we are lazy!
