Does amex or spg transfer to BMI?

I have a hefty amount of miles in USAIR currently that I am scared to let sit there for fear of the airline going under and the miles being worthless.. Any suggestions as for using those USAIR miles to make this happen with them or one of their partners prior to spring of 2012?
