Amsterdam hotels - Estherea room size for a single?
Hi all
I am looking for a hotel for one week in Amsterdam in late April or early May.
Estherea is quoting me 225 average over the 8 nights for a classic single. (Average price - if you saw the daily price, you would think of airline pricing - every DAY is different...)
My recollection from my one other trip to Amsterdam is that good hotels are expensive and in general you might not find the same great hotels at a decent price as you would in say Paris. For instance, 225E /night would get me a upper-three star double in Paris in a great location. This is a single room, not sure where this hotel rates re: stars.
How tiny are the singles? Tripadvisor rates this hotel highly, however, in cruising the "bad reviews" a common complaint was size. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be in the thick of the "small room issues" due to the classic single and I don't want a bad experience for 225E per night for EIGHT nights.
If you have seen single rooms there, how tiny is tiny? Is the bathroom tiny? I could deal with a small room but not a tiny bathroom - not for a week.
That said - would you stay in Amsterdam for 8 whole nights, too? Or would you move around a little? I'm going to see the tulips, but if the weather is fine I could do all that in two days. It will be too cool to be beachy... Bruges and Brussels are two hours by train which is a bit much for a day trip. Would I be better served, do you think, to end the trip in Brussels for three nights, with a day trip to Bruges from there? I last visited both cities 14 months ago, but would be interested to see them in nicer weather.
Thank you.
