It is hard to justify their cost and while Debauve & Gallais are excellent I find better value elsewhere. La Maison du Chocolat is better value as is, for me, Richart, at 55th and 5th, across the street from the St. Regis Hotel.
I think my tastes have matured and I find Debauve and Gallais to be outstanding. Freakishly expensive in New York (about $5 per piece!!) it is some what more reasonable en France, naturellement!!
Richart, Bernachon, La Maison du Chocolat, Jean-Paul Hevin are all wonderful but I now rank D&G as perhaps the top
