I use the government rates when they are the best. However, I usually find that the AAA rates are usually better. Make sure to check all of the available rates! I have had guest clerks ask "Who do you work for?" and I tell them the government, but that is as close to asking for a Govt ID (which I always have with me in my breifcase) as I have ever had...
