Comparing condos to resorts was my point. And of course, all the beaches are accessible to all. (But better get to the smaller parking lots early!) For standard rooms, same week in April, $375/night for the Marriott, $675/night for the FS; but you can nab twice or more the square footage and get a 2b/2b condo with kitchen for ~$150 in Kihei (more in Wailea, of course).
So, if you want to stay put in one hotel on one beach and pay for that ambiance, fine; but I prefer to snorkel tidepools at Perouse Bay, boogie board Makena, stroll on Big Beach, and watch the sunset from Kamaole I, II, or III. (And swim the lava tube on the way to Hana, enjoy the pools at Oheo gulch, snorkel Honolua Bay, etc.) For me, it's about a place to spread out and enjoy food when you want (and a shorter walk to the pool!), and have a base of operations, vs. plunking it down and being pampered (which reminds me, time to buy a lottery ticket)
