I was in Dublin last week and had also considered the Westin. Instead I chose the Fitzwilliam. If you're serious about a more independent property, you might look into this one.

I had a nice room on the fifth floor with private balcony overlooking St. Stephen's Green and a very large bath.

The draw for the hotel is the mostly well-done European modern design.

The room was called "Superior" and was E260 per night including full breakfast, service and VAT. Executive rooms are E225 with all of the above but without the large bathroom and private balcony.

This was my first trip to Dublin, a charming city.
