Seems like ANA is telling UA they have availability. But when UA actually attempts to buy the inventory, they are turned down.

IS just the opposite. ANA is saying there is no availability. Even if you go to ANA, they say the lower fares on that flight are already gone. It's United that is at fault; not ANA. Besides, like I said, or suggested, United knew almost immediately. I found out accidentally, about 30 minutes later and United already knew. But didn't bother to even inform me. If this flight couldn't be booked, it should have been reflected in my itinerary on my account. It wasn't.
