I stayed there twice last year (I'm Platinum) and got nothing but a standard room either - not even so much as a drinks voucher. I believe it is their policy to only upgrade VIPs unless the hotel is very empty (which it almost never is).

Unless you really need the points I'd recommend staying at the Leela. They DO value loyalty...
