Underwire bras have been commonly cited as triggering a frisking. I think this is mostly when using the WTMD but since the passenger may be sent to the metal detector instead of the scanner it is probably wise to avoid wearing a bra with a metal support. I believe that some bras use stiff plastic instead of wire but that is based on my wife's statement and I don't have a personal knowledge in that area. My guess is that the scanner would not have a problem with the wire.

I haven't heard of a frisking will be canceled by a supervisor but it may have happened. Once selected there is little option except to refuse and leave the airport. This may then subject you to an $11,000 fine but I don't know if any have actually been enforced. However you will have legal costs and hassles to get the aftermath resolved.

You should also be aware that choosing the scanner may reduce the likelihood of a frisking but is no assurance that it won't occur.

The CLEAR program is supposed to provide for advanced clearance but only is available in a few locations and again is no guarantee that you won't get frisked. Even airline pilots. while generally exempt, are still subject to random security including including frisking though I've never seen this happen.

Good luck and hopefully others on this forum can help with your other questions.
