When did the policy of not upgrading to a 2BR go into place? I had a few weeks in October at the RI in Hartford and got an upgrade to a 2BR on 2 occaisions.
I recall that the 'official' policy went into place about 1 1/2 yr. ago. Although this is the official policy, I have found many properties still will provide the upgrade at check in, and a few will even confirm in advance. Perhaps the GM at TI wants to lower expectations of being upgraded, but will offer an upgrade at check in if available. The rates at the hotel aren't too bad during shoulder season, so I had considered booking a 1BR at AAA rate and using Marriott checks. However, I want to feel like my business is valued whether paying cash or using points.
