I run a travel company focused on Russia and the former Soviet Union. Two weeks ago I obtained a new passport for a client (who works with us several times a year) going to Russia and Kyrgyzstan, and we did not change the number on file until he was at the check in counter. (We do our airline booking through another agency).
That would be a slight issue, as my husband have never had a passport before, so he wouldn't be able to give the current one. :/
I'm just wondering if I should ask my husband to put in leave (he's in the military) and when he gets his passports, book the tickets A S A P, since at least we'd have a passport number to give. But I'd rather actually HAVE the tickets booked, so I don't risk getting my husband ready for leave, and then all the tickets are sold out for the flight I want.
