Purely a speculation on my part....but hey, that's what FT is for!

With so many folks having plans disrupted this week, maybe someone in management made the decision that the *airplane* that was to be used for your first segment would be put to better use somewhere else in the system for a few days. Not the lack of de-icer, but lack of available aircraft.

Again, just a guess.
