Interesting story, however my suspicion is that this scenario wouldn't repeat with any consistency. I think the agent was just in a generous mood and/or made the change without thinking it thru.
she had checked with her supervisor on duty though, who gave the okay i think. i think they were lenient because of my need to ticket by mail/airport with a paper voucher. hence, i think that was the key to their leniency exception to the first rebooking change.
