We stayed at the Westin last week, and I can honestly state that it was the worst Westin I have ever visited! Perhaps my standards have become too high, but I agree with the comment above that it is more like a Hampton Inn. We were told that a Platinum upgrade to a suite was not possible, and this was confirmed by my checking with Starwood reservations. We entered the standard room to find that there were massive puddles of water on the window sills, stains on the carpet, and the coffee table had a screw projecting up from it where part of the furniture was missing. The sheets were completely wrinked, and looked as if someone had just slept in them. We could not determine if the stains on the sheets were fresh, or had survived laundering. The rest of the furnishings were of a standard you might expect at a dated Holiday Inn. I complained, and we had to deal with the fact that there was only one employee at the front desk who was attending to a long line of customers, as well as answering the phone. We were given a new room, and we found: the same puddles on the windowsill, the same wrinkled sheets, but more massive staining of the carpet. There were 3 coat hangers in the closet, and the shampoo was never replaced after it was almost finished the first day. The parking in the garage below the hotel cost $17 for 24 hours, but was not available on an in-and-out basis. So if you took your car out once, you could pay $34 for one day. If you took it out more often, you could pay more! My impression of the hotel was confirmed when I ordered a Cognac in the lounge. The waitress came back to say that under Cognac they had Grand Marnier, Remy Martin and several other items she did not remember. Which did I want? Needless to say, there was no turndown service or evening chocalates. I wrote some of these comments in the Instant Survey form, but do not expect to hear a response...
