I stayed at the CLT Marriott down town for 3-4 months last year, I think it's interesting that in my opinion it is a fine hotel, not special, not bad but pretty much what I'd expect. Makes me think the service varies more by the person you happen to be dealing with rather than the property but it's certainly good that you had a positive experience.
In such a case I usually suggest giving feedback on the employee who took care of you, with our feedback they can hopefully identify the people that go above and beyond and build on that.
